Il punto focale di questa ricerca fotografica è la biblioteca, luogo di studio, di ricerca ma anche luogo di incontro.
Ho incluso nella mia esplorazione il contesto circostante, focalizzandomi su un raggio d’azione di un chilometro.
Da qui il titolo della mostra, inaugurata durante nell’ottava edizione di Open House Roma e ospitata nella sede centrale delle Biblioteche di Roma in via Aldovrandi 16 a Roma.
Sono state selezionate, in accordo con l’Istituzione Sistema Biblioteche di Roma, sei biblioteche tra quelle appartenenti alla rete che unisce e coordina trentanove sedi dislocate sul territorio romano.
Ogni sede ha la sua peculiare caratteristica architettonica distinguendosi dalle altre sei per differente tipologia edilizia e per specificità tematica e di ricerca. Un corpus così eterogeneo è stato senza dubbio stimolante e pieno di spunti sui quali lavorare.
L’obiettivo della macchina fotografica non si è limitato, ovviamente, a immortalare gli edifici, gli spazi e chi li frequenta, ma ad esplorare le piazze, i viali, i giardini del quartiere per andare a scoprire gli angoli, gli sguardi, i volti di chi quotidianamente popola le zone circostanti.
Nasce, così, un dialogo e un confronto ricco di suggestioni e giochi di specchi.
Più di cento fotografie divise in 6 fascicoli raccontano Roma e i romani, abitudini e consuetudini di chi studia, passeggia, lavora, prende il sole seduto su una panchina di un parco o di chi da turista immortala un monumento della Città eterna.
“Roma non è una città. E’ un mondo” ha scritto Goethe. Questo reportage, nel suo piccolo, vuole raccontare alcuni quartieri che nell’insieme sono la capitale del XXI secolo.
The focal point of this photographic research is the library, a place of study, research but also a meeting place.I have included the surrounding context in my exploration, focusing on a radius of action of one kilometer.Hence the title of the exhibition, inaugurated during the eighth edition of Open House Rome and hosted in the headquarters of the Rome Libraries in Via Aldovrandi 16 in Rome.Six libraries have been selected, in agreement with the Rome Library System Institution, from among those belonging to the network that unites and coordinates thirty-nine locations in Rome.Each location has its peculiar architectural feature, distinguishing itself from the other six by different building typologies and by thematic and research specificity. Such a diverse body was undoubtedly stimulating and full of ideas to work with.The objective of the camera was not limited, of course, to immortalize buildings, spaces and those who frequented them, but to explore the squares, avenues, gardens of the neighborhood to go to discover the corners, the looks, the faces of those who daily populate the surrounding areas.Thus was born a dialogue and a comparison rich in suggestions and games of mirrors. More than a hundred photographs divided into 6 installments tell the story of Rome and the Romans, habits and habits of those who study, walk, work, sunbathe sitting on a park bench or those who immortalize a monument of the Eternal City as a tourist."Rome is not a city. It is a world, "wrote Goethe. This report, in its small way, wants to tell some neighborhoods that together are the capital of the 21st century.
